New Delhi: Scorpio has been a successful product for Mahindra. Hence, now even after the company has launched the Scorpio-N, the old Scorpio has been rebranded as the Scorpio Classic. It will be launched on August 20. Many changes have been seen in this. The company has tried to make it more feature loaded than before but a lot of features have been left out, including a 4-wheel drive system and automatic transmission. The SUV will be available in two trims – the entry-level S and the fully loaded S11. Let’s take a closer look at the Scorpio Classic and tell you what’s on offer and what’s not.

1- Engine of Mahindra Scorpio Classic

The biggest update to the Scorpio Classic is the engine. Mahindra has given a new 2.2 mHawk powertrain in it. It will produce 130bhp and 300Nm of output like the new Thar and the entry-level Scorpio-N. Like most BS6 engines, the output of the new mHawk is lower than that of the old engine. It generates 6bhp and 20Nm less. According to Mahindra, the Classic is 55 kg lighter than the old model. This has been made possible thanks to the new all-aluminum engine.

However, this engine can give 14 percent more fuel efficiency than the old one. The 2.2mHawk powertrain is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, which comes with cable shift. This will give a smooth experience of changing gears. Its shift throw is less.

2- Mahindra Scorpio Classic’s bold look

Mahindra has tried to give a bolder look to the Scorpio Classic. It gets an all-black front nose and a grille with six chrome-finished vertical slats. Mahindra’s new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo has also been given. Apart from this, a silver skip plate has been given. The air intake scoop has been given on the bonnet, although it is given only for show. It gets 17-inch wheels. Dual-tone alloy wheels are available in the top variant.

On the side, Mahindra has retained the tower lights at the rear, which were also there in the 2007 model. The SUV retains the twin pod projector headlights but gets new LED DRLs just above the fog lamps on the bumper. The Scorpio Classic will be available in five color options – Pearl White, Napoli Black, Red Rays, D’Sat Sliver and a new paint scheme Galaxy Grey.

3- Updated interior of Mahindra Scorpio Classic

The Scorpio Classic cabin has been given a black and beige combination theme, which makes it feel more spacious and airy. An attempt will be seen to give it more premiumness than before. Wooden panels have been given in the dashboard. It also gets a large Android-based 9-inch infotainment system with 16GB of internal storage, phone screen mirroring and voice command feature.

There are many seating options available in Scorpio Classic. The S trim is available with 7 and 9 seat options, wherein the third row seats face-to-face. On the other hand, the S11 gets a 7-seater option. However, captain seats are available in its second row.

4- Many features missed in Mahindra Scorpio Classic

Although the Scorpio Classic is quite a loaded SUV, many features have been left out in it. Features like auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers, intermittent windscreen wiper controller or tire pressure monitoring system are not available in the Classic. Apart from this, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also not available in the new infotainment system. The SUV doesn’t even get an automatic transmission or 4WD. Whereas, Android Auto Play, Apple Car Play and Automatic Transmission are also available in budget cars these days.

5- Are the limited features offered to sell the Scorpio-N?

Whatever features Mahindra has left in it, almost all of them are found in the Scorpio-N. The Scorpio-N was launched by the company on June 27, which is getting tremendous response from the customers. But, Mahindra has decided to keep selling the old Scorpio as well. In such a situation, if the company had more similarities in the features of Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic, then there could have been more confusion among the customers because then there would be 20 years of Scorpio brand value on one hand and Scorpio-N on the other hand would have aggressive look, design and similar features. .
