A recent news update that has left the auto industry shook comes from KIA. Who have rather interestingly reported they have been a subject of theft and around 900 engine units have been stolen from the brand’s facility in Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh. Gwanggu Lee , Kia Motors India MD and CEO has filed an official complaint with Penukonda Industrial Estate Police Department.
It was during the year end audit that such details became apparent. The lacking numbers made it evidently apparent that KIA has been subjected to a major corporate theft that has gradually taken place for the last 5 years. The Theft details have revealed that the company has lost up to 9oo engines in total.
A probe into the matter has revealed that the theft was carried out in a planned phase wise manner. Initial investigation had revealed that the theft could have been conducted in transit However new developments have showcased that the engines were stolen from KIA’s Facility In Penukonda by tampering with the records.

What’s next in the KIA Engine Theft Case
As per the reports it has become apparent that the police are investigating the premises of the factory closely, he has further revealed that special task force teams have been deployed to analyze and investigate the case. KIA has further revealed that such a theft has not caused any delay in their overall production goals, The company’s capacity to roll out 3,00,00 to 4,00,000 units annually is still intact. These thefts have taken place over a span of the past 5 years.
