New Delhi: The Kia Sonnet is going to get a mid-lifecycle facelift version next year. It is being tested in South Korea. It will get major cosmetic updates inside and out. However, there will be no change in its powertrain. Let us know what changes are going to be available in this facelift version.
Kia Sonet Facelift Exterior
The spy pictures suggest that it could get a smoother headlamp, horizontal design interiors and LED daytime running lamp tweaks, a new drop-down element, new fog lamp housings similar to the EV9 and EV5 concepts . It will also get a wide central air intake along with a new front bumper.
Features
It is expected to get new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a new vertically oriented tail-lamp connected to the LED light bar and minor changes to the rear bumper. It will get an updated dashboard design, new interior trims and panels with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, a sunroof, wireless charger, ambient lighting, Bose audio system and a new digital instrument cluster.
Kia Sonet Facelift Powertrain
The existing powertrain will be retained in the Kia Sonet facelift. Kia has recently updated the Sonet with RDE and E20 fuel compatible engines. It will continue to have the option of 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine.
When will launch
The launch of Sonet facelift is likely to be launched in July next year. It will compete with cars like Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. Its rival Maruti Brezza gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates outputs of 103PS/137Nm, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Its CNG version gets an output of 88PS/121.5Nm. It gets features like 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and four-speaker sound system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, paddle shifters, single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, head-up display and 360-degree camera.
