The KIA WKNDR is one such concept that showcases the pragmatic nature of a Van that has off-roading capabilities while being powered by EV battery packs.

The WKNDR is a integral part of KIA’S new Platform “Beyond Vehicle Program”. KIA would bring in new electric vehicles with different configuration and sizes under this project. KIA has plans to extend this project and bring in new commercial EV vehicles in this range as well.

KIA WKNDR Off-Roader Van

The PV5 WKNDR is a EV van with off-roading capabilities, the interior of the vehicle can be changed as per the use. The passenger seats in the rear are lounge seats that would give you the comfort of being in a luxury vehicle even while off-roading. Beyond that the vehicle seems to be running on heavy duty off road tires that would help it maximize its potential as a off-roader.

One of the most stand-out feature of the truck is that the interior could easily be changed as per the use. The van has lounge seats , camping chairs, Roof Tarp and more features that can be used when on a vacation.

KIA has fitted the WKNDR with solar panels all along the roof that charge the main battery while on the go. If that’s not all the vehicle also has ” hydro Turbine Wheels ” that generate electricity while the vehicle is on the move. These capabilities further make it a perfect vehicle for off-roading and other adventure activities. The Hydro Turbine Wheel Concept has profound practicality and can lead to zero emissions if applied to larger Commercial EV vehicles.

The vehicle would have fully replaceable interiors, with lounge chairs as well as other facilities. This would further increase its practicality. The vehicle also has fully powered heavy duty winch in front that could help it in case it gets stuck while off-roading. As a concept the WKNDR has established the need of a new range of EV vehicles that can be used in commercial as well as normal everyday use.

Would it be Made Available in India

As of yet KIA has only showcased the WKNDR at SEMA Auto show in Nevada. There has not been any news regarding the production run or launch. KIA is still figuring out the necessities of the market and maybe in future the vehicle might make to a full production run.
