New Delhi: Kia India inaugurated India’s fastest ‘240 kWh’ charger for passenger EVs in Kochi. This DC fast charger is installed at Incheon Kia, Kochi, a South Korean carmaker’s dealership.
The EV Fast Charger is open to all EV owners in India, not just Kia EV6 owners, to access fast charging options. Customers can avail this charging facility at the Kochi dealer on a pay-as-you-go basis. In July 2022, Kia India launched in Gurgaon India’s fastest charger at the time, the “150 kWh” electric charger for passenger cars, which now becomes the fastest EV charger in North India.
Kia India recently launched its first all-electric vehicle, the Kia EV6 in India, which is based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and represents Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. The Kia EV6 offers a range of 528 km on a full charge, keeping range concerns at bay. The EV6 can be charged from 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes using a 350kW charger.
Kia India has launched the EV6 as a CBU to test the waters in the country and is committed to offering sustainable mobility solutions by launching its India-focused EV in the country by 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, Myung-sik Sohn, Director, Sales, Kia India said, “These are exciting times for electric cars and we aim to not only be a part of the electric car mobility revolution in India, but also make owning an electric car aspirational, accessible and inclusive. Launched in India earlier this year, our world-leading electric car, the Kia EV6, is a perfect illustration of our philosophy. Subsequently, the launch of this 240kWh DC fast charger for EV passenger vehicles in Kochi brings me great joy.
This is a significant milestone for us at Kia India as we continue to strengthen our commitment. And this is to develop the EV infrastructure in the country and contribute to India’s mobility growth story.
Our EV journey in India does not end here, in fact we are in the process of setting up more charging stations at our EV dealers across the country to ensure superior customer experience and reduce the issue of charging time and range concerns that usually follow EVs. customers.”
