Kia Clavis: Feature-Packed Compact SUV Coming to India – What To Expect?

Kia is all set to launch a new compact SUV, the Clavis, to compete in the Indian market. Expected in early 2025, the Clavis will slot between the Sonet and Seltos. It will be launched in petrol and electric versions, with a possible hybrid option later.

Kia Clavis

Kia marked its entry in India with the now-popular Seltos. Since then there has been no looking back with the South Korean brand extending its portfolio with the launch of Sonet, Carens, Carnival and EV6 in the country. With this, the company has established itself as one of the major players in the Indian market. A compact SUV codenamed AY and rumoured to be launched as Clavis is set to join its siblings in India.

Spy Video Leaks Details of Upcoming Kia Clavis

Kia trademarked the name Clavis in India in December last year and this is going to be one of those cars making a big impact when launched on our shores. The Clavis was recently spotted testing in Hyderabad. To date, these spy visuals reveal the clearest images of Clavis. Viral Cars Hyderabad shared a spy video on its Instagram handle offering a better look at the heavily camouflaged Clavis.

The video reveals a few equipment and features we can expect on the Kia Clavis. The front fascia has a laid-out LED DRL signature identical to the one seen on the upcoming XUV 3XO and there are parking sensors too. The headlights are automatic and wipers are rain-sensing there is a vertically laid out lighting setup.

It looks like there will be a triple LED projector setup – one for high beam and two for low beam. The number plate is placed between the upper and lower grill along the horizontal bumper element. The car will get ADAS features just like other Kia models and a radar module confirms the same. However, the ADAS is likely to be present on the top-end model only.

The tyres appear skinny and look different from the 215-section ones found on the Seltos and Sonet, while the wheels carry a geometric design seen in Kia’s international models. Furthermore, there are B-pillars just like on the Hyundai Casper and the clamshell bonnet looks muscular. The roof rails make it look taller.

Rear and Cabin Hints: What to Expect?

Talking about the rear, it gets an almost flat tailgate and vertically laid out LED tail lights. Vertically mounted reflectors can be seen on the bumper. The video provides a glimpse of the interior as well. The steering wheel appears quite similar to that of the EV6, while the twin horizontally laid-out screens are identical to the new Seltos and Sonet.

Kia Clavis: Launch Timeline

The Kia Clavis is expected to make its debut in India at the end of 2024, while the market launch could happen in early 2025. The compact SUV will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s lineup. The Clavis will come in both electric and petrol-powered versions.

Furthermore, there have been reports indicating that a hybrid version will also be launched later. The upcoming Clavis is expected to rival Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch.
