The interior of the vehicle is expected to be updated as well, with an all-new two-spoke steering wheel, a raised centre tunnel, roof-integrated AC vents for the rear passengers, ambient lighting, and wireless charging. Kia’s vehicle-to-load system will also be a part of the package, allowing the car to power external electric appliances.

7-Seat Configuration

The Clavis EV will adopt a 7-seater configuration as standard, while a 6-seater option will also be offered. With the all-new Kia Carens EV, Kia is set to enter a segment that currently has no direct competitors. Interestingly, the Carens Clavis EV will be the the first electric MPV in India. Media reports have revealed that the new EV might feature Kia’s i-Pedal regenerative braking technology, which will assist drivers with single-pedal operation.

Kia has not revealed the electric motor configurations or the battery output, but it is likely that the car will offer a driving range of around 490 km. The Carens could be launched with the same battery options, such as the 42 kWh unit, and possibly a 51.4 kWh unit.

Manufacturers are planning to bring in more affordable EVs in India following the implementation of stringent emission laws. Kia is expected to launch the new Syros EV soon after the debut of its electric MPV.
