New Delhi: After Maruti Suzuki launched its first 4×4 SUV, Jimny, one thing that has been in the news is that Mahindra’s most popular SUV Thar (Mahindra Thar) sees a competition. Although this Suzuki SUV has been present in the European market for many years and is one of the best-selling vehicles there, still the company did a lot of research to launch it in India.
Now the big thing is why Mahindra Thar can be a big threat due to the launch of Jimny, while there is a lot of difference in power and performance between Thar and Jimny. Whereas Thar has already established its credibility in the market and Jimny is a completely new car for the Indian market.
Structures
The Thar is currently available in the market with 3 doors, while the Jimny has been developed exclusively for India with 5 doors. Its biggest advantage will be for those people who like adventure and want to travel with the family in this vehicle. No one can keep the Thar as the primary car of the family, while the Jimny can be easily kept as the primary car.
Mileage
Both petrol and diesel engines are offered in the Thar. At the same time, Jimny has launched with a 1.5 petrol engine. Talking about the mileage of Thar, it gives 12 to 13 kilometres per litre on petrol and almost the same mileage as a diesel engine. While the company claims the mileage of Jimny is 17 kilometres per litre. Although some people claim that the car is giving a mileage of up to 20 kilometres per litre in normal driving conditions.
Features
The Jimny is loaded with safety features. Along with dual airbags, many features including collapsible steering, ABS, EBD, side crash guards, ISOFIX mounted seats, height adjustable seat belts and engine immobilizer are available. Though the Thar to has many safety features due to its interior design, it is less safe for the rear seat occupants.
Weight of the car
There is a difference of about 600 kg in the weight of the Jimny as compared to the Thar. The curb weight of the Thar is 1755 kg, while the Jimny weighs 1197 kg.
