Apart from other rumor’s that have been circulating amid Lewis Hamilton’s shift to Ferrari, Jeremy Clarkson eminent British Broadcaster’s sardonic reaction has become the subject matter of headlines. As per the Ex Top Gear presenter Lewis Hamilton is seemingly past his prime and the shift to Ferrari is fueled by the drivers ambition to drive for Ferrari Before retirement.

But Jeremy Clarkson who also writes for the Sun Newspaper questioned the motives of the move. He Wrote

“It could be argued that Lewis Hamilton wants a record-breaking eighth world championship before he retires, and moved to Ferrari because he reckons that this year they will have the fastest car.

“He may have a point. Early indications on the rumour mill suggest it’s very fast indeed.

“However, if he’s so keen on that eighth world title, you’d imagine that he’d have arrived at the factory on day one, keen to know the car’s secrets and how he can extract the most from its vast arsenal of racing trickery.

“Instead, he turned up in an SUV in a suit and tie and posed for pictures before talking to fans, under the watchful eye of a video drone which luckily was there to capture the moment.

“Next, there was a tour of the team’s headquarters where, in slow motion, we saw the fawning engineers and the applause.

“And then, eventually, he went on to the track, in an F1 Ferrari that’s three years old.

“I’m told his new house isn’t anywhere near the team’s HQ. It’s in Milan, and he doesn’t even commute in a Ferrari road car, choosing instead to use Fiat’s helicopter.

“It made me wonder. What is Lewis now? A driver? Or a superstar?

“What I do know is he’ll have his work cut out to beat his team-mate Charles Leclerc, who speaks Italian, knows the team, doesn’t spend quite so long posing for pictures and, thanks to a single-lap shootout, is regarded by many to be the fastest driver of them all.

“Maybe Lewis is aware of this.

“And maybe he signed for Ferrari for a different reason – he knows he’s past his prime now and he didn’t want to retire having never driven for motorsport’s crown jewel.

“Either way, I wish him well.”

Jeremy Clarkson has spoken before about how the sport has gotten safer and is now much less entertaining than before. He has spoken at length about the vigor that the likes of Fangio and Senna had showcased at the racetrack. In an old interview with drive tribe the presenter had spoken about how The governing body would have to change the layout to be more exciting, using a metaphor from cricket. Jeremys comments could be signaling towards the few seasons that have went by where the Redbull dominance led to very expected results. Jeremy is known for his tounge in cheek kind of comments and even after his take on Lewis he does wish him well for the season. Its to early decide whether Hamilton Would be able to bring in a performance packed season or not. Its only after the first few races that the pace of the team would become apparent.

Ferrari’s Prospects

Beyond the issues that Ferrari might have gone through in the recent few season their prospects for the upcoming season are pretty ambitious. Beyond Lewis’s shift to Ferrari other officials such as Loic Serra and Angela Cullen have also joined Ferrari. Beyond that, the Project 677 that would be Hamilton’s vehicle in the future has been in recent talks.

A number of details have been revealed about the new car since the last summer. The most significant one being that the car would return to Pull-rod front suspension for the first time in the decade.

The pull-rod suspension that is now being favored by many other teams such as Mclaren and Redbull is known for enhancing the underbody airflow. This floor would be integral in producing the car’s downforce levels.

Such suspension would also allow Ferrari to push down the Kinematic mechanisms further down the chassis of the vehicle to allow the vehicle to have better center of gravity. Beyond that the new car would a have a revised wheel base. The car would have a shorter wheel base than before, such changes generally lead to more nimbler vehicle that could be a advantage on street circuits such as Monaco, Hungary and Abu Dhabi.

But would the new pull rod suspension be able to create enough down force to offset such a change? Beyond that cockpit positioning changes are supposedly to go underway as well.
