Travelling to Uttarakhand ? get ready for intensive document checks if you are a registered driver from some other state. Amid the excessive traffic congestions that have been impacting the transport in the hills Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has taken stringent corrective actions.
As per the directed orders officials in Uttarakhand would carry out strict vehicle and document checks before allowing the vehicles to enter in the city limits. The drivers would have to provide their valid Licenses as well as all updated vehicle related documents if they are driving from other states.
These steps have been taken after the massive congestions that have been adversely impacting the transport on hills. Beyond that the horrendous bus accident in Bhimtal has coaxed the government to take corrective measures before 31st of December.
As per the official orders the constabulary of hilly areas would be on a increased surveillance against traffic violations. As per a report issued by ANI apart from traffic rule offenders special attention would be projected towards Non -Uttarakhand registered vehicles. The internet is replete with videos of long traffic congestion along the hilly roads of Shimla and Atal Tunnel. Hence traffic officials would be on a strict look out against any misdemeanors.

Never Over Take on Long Curves
While driving on mountain regions you should never try to over take a vehicle ahead of you while in along turn. This can cause you to collide with vehicles coming from the other way. Always wait and drive patiently behind the vehicle ahead and overtake when you are out of turns and on straight roads.
The Right of the Way
Always remember that when on Hilly Roads the right of the way is preserved for vehicles driving on inclines rather than Declines. Always give way to the vehicles that are on inclines as it could be challenging for a vehicle to climb again if it losses its momentum .
Use of Snow Chains
If you are planning to drive on Snow clad roads we would advise that you use snow chains as otherwise your car can loose traction and get into an accident. Refrain from driving to mountains when snowfall is expected with your Front Wheel Drive Cars. As of now we would recommend that only drive to the mountains if you have a fully 4×4 equipped vehicle.
