New Delhi: The new Hyundai Verna prototype has been spied testing in Delhi and Chennai. Its recently surfaced pictures suggest that it may come with features like ADAS. The new sedan is expected to be launched next year. It will compete with Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Vertus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The new Verna reflects the design language of the Elantra and Sonata.
It will also get a parametric jewel pattern front grille, which will be wider and bigger than the current model. Sharp looking headlamps will also be available in the sedan. These give the car a sporty road presence. The front and rear bumpers, tail lamps and fog lights have also been updated. The new Verna will get a completely new design of alloy wheels. However, it can be of the same size as the current model, which is 16-inches.
In terms of dimensions, the new one will otherwise be longer than the old model. It can get more rear space. The cabin of the new Verna is expected to be completely redesigned. It can also get a large infotainment system display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, all-digital instrument cluster and Bose music system.
The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) could also be offered on the Hyundai Verna. If this happens, it will be the second car in the sedan segment in India after Honda City Hybrid to get ADAS. It will have many features like blind-spot collision warning, lane-keeping assist, safe exit warning, driver attention warning, emergency braking.
The new Verna is expected to retain all three existing powertrains, which are the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, the 1-litre turbo petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The engines will come with both manual and automatic transmission options.
