Honda has unveiled two electric personal vehicles in India: the Activa e:, powered by two swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries, and the QC1, which features a fixed battery. Nevertheless, with these launches, Honda’s global electric vehicle portfolio expands to 13 models. The company is stepping towards achieving its ambitious goal of introducing 30 electric vehicles worldwide by 2030.
“Honda is introducing models exclusively for the Indian market incorporating local characteristics and customer preferences,” said the company. “Honda aims to achieve carbon neutrality in all of its products and corporate activities by 2050, and to achieve carbon neutrality in all of its motorcycle products during the 2040s. To achieve this goal, Honda is working toward the electrification of motorcycles as an integral pillar of its future environmental strategy,” added the company.
Honda Activa e: Details
The Activa e: is a new model built on the platform of Honda’s immensely popular Activa. Activa is the company’s top-selling scooter globally and in India, with annual sales of around 2.5 million units. Meanwhile, the Activa e offers performance comparable to a traditional 110cc petrol-powered scooter, with its power sourced from two interchangeable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries.
The Activa e: is powered by two swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries, which supply energy to Honda’s innovative wheel-side motor. This motor produces a rated output of 4.2 kW and a maximum output of 6.0 kW. Activa e: achieves a cruising range of 102 km, making it ideal for daily commuting.
Additionally, the Activa e: inherits the iconic design of popular Activa, while incorporating distinctive styling elements that unmistakably identify it as an electric vehicle. Meanwhile, the sleek LED combination lights and indicators at the front and rear lend a modern, futuristic touch.
QC1: Details
The QC1 comes with a 1.5 kWh fixed battery, featuring advanced high-energy density and long-cycle life cells. Additionally, you can recharge the QC1’s battery at home using a specialized charger. A compact in-wheel motor powers the rear wheel, delivering a rated output of 1.2 kW and a maximum output of 1.8 kW. Meanwhile, the advanced power control unit optimizes motor performance, enabling a cruising range of 80 km per charge.
A clear and easy-to-read 5-inch LCD instrument panel shows the vehicle’s speed. The sleek, flush-surface headlights boast a futuristic design, creating an unmistakable visual identity. Equipped with high-intensity LEDs, they provide enhanced visibility and peace of mind for nighttime riding.
