Images of the yet-to-launch Honda CB1000 GT have surfaced online through an Australian Homologation Type Application. Going by the appearance of the bike, it seems to be a full-fledged adventure tourer with high ground clearance and a commanding adventure stance.
Honda CB1000 GT: What to Expect
The new adventure tourer will be based on the CB1000 Hornet, but with all the additional adventure-touring components, the bike will be able to handle off-road riding with ease. Designed with long-distance comfort in mind, it features long-travel suspension, a tall windscreen, and handguards.
The rider footpegs are positioned further forward, allowing for a more relaxed leg angle for the rider, while the bike still retains 17-inch wheels.
Engine and Performance
The CB1000 GT will be powered by a 1000cc inline-four, liquid-cooled engine capable of producing 157 bhp of peak power and 107 Nm of peak torque. The bike retains a frame similar to that of the Hornet, though the pillion footpegs have been redesigned to ensure a more comfortable ride for the passenger.
The leaked images also showcase the presence of an aluminium swingarm, with the wheelbase increased by 10 mm compared to the CB1000 Hornet. Up front, the bike appears to use the same dual Nissin radially mounted four-piston calipers found on the non-SP Hornet, which is not currently sold in India.
Homologation Details
In Australia, the new Honda CB1000 GT is registered as “ready to ride” at 213 kg, including 10 litres of fuel, although the total fuel tank capacity has not yet been confirmed.
The final specifications and design will be officially revealed once the bike is launched. If introduced, the CB1000 GT will compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the BMW S 1000 XR.
