Front wheel drives stuck in snowfalls is a constant issue that travellers across mountains continuously face.  In a recent scenario Himachal police guided a single vehicle to free up a traffic jam of about a thousand cars.  As per the official news the rescue mission was aimed at clearing the massive vehicular  congestion that caused hour long traffic jams.

This rescue mission lead to clearance of extended lanes of vehicular congestion that spread across the lanes of the Himachal highways. In most cases such issues arise when Front Wheel Drive cars get stuck in mountains with extreme snowfall.

As per the video that broke over the internet a police professional was seen placing foil in front of the the vehicle to help them gain traction and drive safely along the lanes of the highway.  Manali and other tourist attractions in mountains often witness a surge in tourists during the winter season. Such a surge often leads to such problems as witnessed in the video.

During the year end holidays people often plan to travel along the mountains that too in their own cars, the majority of the vehicles are Front Wheel Drove cars that loose traction when being driven on snow clad roads. To mitigate such issues Police officials often restrict movement of FWD vehicles  once there persists a continuous snowfall.

Several videos of similar issues have surfaced over the internet in the last few days, and showcased how the snowfall has impacted the vehicular transport along the mountains.  The videos showcase vehicles skidding all over the place over the icy roads and loosing control. As of yet no major incident has been reported but transport has taken a big impact along the mountains.  If snow clad roads were not enough low visibility has further worsened the case leading to traffic jams and reduced speeds along the highways.

If you ever have to drive over snow clad roads we would recommend that you brake gently and accelerate gently as well. If in case you are planning a trip during the months of December we would recommend that you carry along with yourself Snow Chains as they would help you  in case you vehicle breaks traction and looses grip.

Wheel spins and traction loss is common while driving on snow so beware and apply acceleration judiciously as it might affect the vehicles stability and cause it to break traction and spin.  In case you the highways have been reported to be stuck we would recommend that you extend you stay at hotels and refrain from driving along the mountains during the snowfalls.
