Yes, under the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) latest cleanliness initiative, commuters can avail this benefit. The scheme launched on Monday, October 13, is available for a limited period.
In a bid to boost hygiene standards along India’s highways, the NHAI has launched a new cleanliness initiative that rewards users with Rs 1,000 FASTag recharge for reporting dirty toilets at toll plazas. Part of the ‘Special Campaign 5.0’, the ‘Clean Toilet Picture Challenge’ aims to ensure clean and hygienic restroom facilities across National Highways by encouraging users to upload geo-tagged photos of unclean toilets via the Rajmargyatra app. The scheme is valid until October 31, 2025.
How can Highway users earn Rs 1,000 FASTag recharge?
Under this initiative, highway users are urged to report dirty toilets at Toll Plazas along the National Highway by uploading geo-tagged pictures through the latest version of the ‘Rajmargyatra’ app. Users will have to provide details such as user’s name, location, Vehicle Registration Number and Mobile number as a part of reporting process. The initiative is open to all National Highway users.
Important points to keep in mind
Each Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) reporting such instances will be eligible for a reward of Rs.1, 000 (Rupees One Thousand) in the form of FASTag recharge that will be credited to the linked VRN provided by the Highway user. Notably, the reward will be non-transferable and cannot be claimed in cash. The initiative will continue until October 31, 2025 on all National Highways across the country.
It is also noteworthy that the drive shall be applicable only to toilets constructed, operated, or maintained under NHAI jurisdiction. Toilets located at Retail Fuel stations, Dhabas, or other public facilities not under NHAI’s control are excluded in this scheme. Also, each VRN shall be eligible for only one reward during the entire scheme period.
