Recharging your Fast Tag Could soon be a thing of the past as the Indian Government has shared its plans to possibly propose a move towards annual and lifetime passes to owners of private vehicles. The New proposal has been based on the use of those who make frequent trips on the National Highways and expressways. This would help in increasing the speed across the highways and help the mounting lines at toll gates.

As per a recent Report By TOI the annual toll pass would be around Rs 3000, for the unlimited use of National highways and expressways, as per TOI report. Also the proposal also includes the introduction of an life time pass for a payment of Rs 30,000. The aim has been to help the toll infrastructure of the country to be more swift and quick. The new proposal for the annual passes would integrate with the existing FASTag system for unlimited highway and expressway access.

Road And Transport Union Minister , Nitin Gadkari , spoke on the matter and said that the government is contemplating the introduction of a new monthly and yearly pass for ease of travelling for frequent travelers. As per the data that has been revealed 74% of the total revenue is collected from commercial vehicles. hence the annual as well as monthly pass would allow the private vehicle owners to be able to pass through toll gates swiftly.

How Will The New Toll Pass Work

The Life time pass would cost around 30,000 and would last for 15 years, the pass would be integrated into the FASTag account allowing the user to be able to use the highways with ease. For the annual pass for private cars user would have to pay Rs,3000 per year. the pass would be integrated into the FASTag account to allow the user to be able to use the highways with ease.

Issues With The Tolls

Even with he FASTag system implemented on all major highways the tolls still suffer from slow working procedures. the aim of the scheme would be to help the users pass through the tolls with ease without any delay’s. It possible that the government might stipulate the tolls to have dedicated line for monthly and lifetime pass owners to be able to pass through with ease without any haggles. This would further help the government decrease the lineup of vehicles at the tolls.
