Government Plans Stringent Traffic Violation Penalties: Unpaid Fines To Trigger Premium Price Hikes

The details have been incorporated and disclosed after a supreme court statement, as per the statement 23 states- Details Below-

The Government has taken up the decision to increase their vigilance against road and transport misdemeanors, and has been planning new rules that would further increase the punishments and challenges for users who engage in traffic rule disobedience. Beyond that the government has also planned to cancel the license of users who do not pay their fines and dues for three months. Further, any pending uses or fines can also lead to increased insurance premiums for the users.

The new rules would incorporate a new punishment for defaulters who so not pay their fine within the three months of date of being fined, the driving license of such drivers could possibly be canceled. Beyond that the government is also planning to seize the license of drivers who have a history of reckless driving, breaking traffic laws and reckless driving can also be seized.

Insurance Premium To Increase 

As iterated before the insurance premium of users would increase if in case they have a History of pending fines. Beyond that, the Government has also made plans to link fines and insurance premium charges. The details have been incorporated and disclosed after a supreme court statement, as per the statement 23 states and seven territories have been directed to file compliance reports indicating the implementation of electronic monitoring as per the provision in the Central Motors Vehicle act. 

New Techniques For Traffic Surveillance

As per section 1236 A deployment of advanced techniques such as use of speed and CCTV cameras, speed guns, Body Worn Cameras, and Automatic Number Plate  Recognition systems to ensure better traffic management and enforcement of traffic laws. As per the numbers reported by TOI, it has become apparent that dues and fine collection percent in Delhi is pretty low around only 14%, beyond that Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh respectively stand at 27% and 21%. Some of the reasons which have become the prime concern behind the late payment have been false fines as well as delay in challan deployment.
