After years of keeping the car enthusiasts in India waiting, Volkswagen has finally decided to bring the new Golf to India by August 25. As per the recent news updates its clear that the brand would bring the car model in India through the Homologation free Import Route.
Volkswagen had previously brought in the Polo GTI to India in similar limited numbers as well. The car became a venerable part of the compact vehicle segment during those times in 2016. The Golf has received a recent update in April 2024. The vehicle has gotten a updated infotainment software and a minor tweak in the power output as well.
Volkswagen Golf Performance Specs
The car would be powered by a 2.0 Litre Four cylinder Turbo engine that churns out the max output of around 265 BHP with a peak torque output of around 370 Nm. In the global market the engine is partnered with a 7 speed DCT gearbox that powers the front wheels.
Volkswagen Golf Performance Upgrades
Rather than the simple electronic steering unit, the golf comes with a progressive steering. This means that the vehicle has a Variable Rack and Pinon steering that changes its geometry and provides better feel of the road to the driver. Beyond that the vehicle would also have Electronically Controlled Front Axle differential Lock as well as an Optional Adaptive Suspension.
Golf Pricing
The car would be in a segment of its own , considering the limited numbers in which the car would be imported. As of yet its believed that the car would be priced around 40 lakh Rs. It would compete against the likes of Mini Cooper S, as well as the Octavia RS if Skoda plans to unveil it in January.
