Due to rising petrol prices, CNG bikes will soon enter the market. Bajaj is developing a CNG bike, expected to launch during the festive season this year. Meanwhile, Honda plans to introduce the new Activa 7G. Media reports suggest this scooter may be a hybrid, featuring an electric motor and battery alongside a powerful petrol engine for extra power on the road.

A hybrid scooter runs on petrol and charges its battery when the engine starts. When extra power is needed, such as on hills or rough roads, the engine receives about 5NM of additional power from the battery. This process happens automatically and reduces petrol consumption. It is said that Honda’s new scooter might be a mild hybrid.

The company has not yet revealed the price and launch date for the Honda Activa 7G. Estimates suggest it could be priced between 80 to 90 thousand rupees ex-showroom initially. Sources indicate it will be available by October 2024.

Here are the specifications of the Honda Activa 7G:

  •  It features a 109cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, providing high performance on long rides.
  • It generates 7.6bhp and 8.8Nm of peak torque for increased speed.
  • The engine offers a mileage of 45 to 50 kmpl.
  • It includes a 5.3 liter fuel tank.
  • Equipped with an engine start-stop switch button.
  • Features a silent starter and dual-function switch for reduced noise.
  • Comes with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels and disc brakes.
  • Has a single-piece seat and a straightforward handlebar design.

Yamaha’s hybrid scooter, the Yamaha Fascino 125, will pose strong competition to Honda’s new scooter. The base model of the Fascino 125 is priced at Rs 79,900 ex-showroom.

Here are the features of the Yamaha Fascino 125:

  • The scooter is available in 8 variants and offers 23 color choices.
  • It includes a hybrid engine and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • The front tyre size is 12 inches, and the rear tyre size is 10 inches.
  • For safety, it is equipped with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

The company has introduced a new variant called Fascino S, which includes a unique Answer Back feature for locating the scooter. By connecting the scooter to a mobile app, pressing a key will activate the scooter’s horn for 2 seconds and flash its indicators. This new variant is available for Rs 93,730 ex-showroom.
