As per a recent news report Bengaluru transport department has seized about 30 luxury cars including Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Range Rover for operating without paying required taxes during the operation conducted on Sunday.
The operation to acquire such vehicles was led by the transport Deputy Commissioner C Mallikarjun. He worked with a team of 41 officials, to lead the investigation of the overall slew of vehicles that were being used without proper tax charges.
As per the official word by the top officials these cars were being driven in that state without paying the required taxes and a notice has been issued to recover approx. Rs 3 crore from the seized vehicles , a senior official department official said. The act is a part of the overall measures pledged towards luxury vehicle owners in Bengaluru.
Such has been the case with luxury cars for a while. Several luxury cars have also been impounded in the customs department in Delhi as well. Here are a few vehicles that we have seen being impounded around India, the reason behind their impound were mostly tax evasion or the owners involvement in certain crimes.

A BMW Z4 spotted in an impound some where in Delhi, the car is in a delipidated state with a missing front fascia and a down trodden roof.

An older generation Audi R8 that was spotted being parked in a impound lot some where in India. The failing of the fuel system and the expensive repairs was the apparent reason behind the owner leaving the car.

The XKRS was possibly impounded due to a lack of taxes and duties that were levied on the vehicle. Alomg with it a new generation Lamborghini was also seen being impounded.
