New Delhi: Although SUVs have gained popularity recently, entry-level cars are very much on trend, even if sales volumes have decreased.

Commuting in crowded cities is becoming more and more stressful and small hatchbacks are the perfect solution to combat this problem. They offer good mileage, easy parking, smooth maneuvering in traffic and are cost effective to maintain.

With the above in mind, here are 5 of the best entry-level cars that are perfect for everyday use, whether it’s commuting, a quick run to the mall or the occasional weekend getaway.

When it comes to a budget car, there is no better choice than the Maruti Suzuki Alto. For years, the Alto has been the entry-level hatchback in the market as it fulfills all the needs one would want in a commuter – compact and great fuel economy.

Maruti Suzuki has kept this in mind with the new Alta which is slated to launch soon. As with the previous generation vehicles, Maruti Suzuki will offer two engine options, the tried and tested 800cc engine and the new 1.0-litre K-series engine that debuted with the recently launched S-Presso.\

Price: 4.64 million ex-showroom

Mileage: 20.7 kmpl

When talking about an entry-level hatchback, the name that comes to mind after the Alto is the Renault Kwid. Instead of keeping its subtle design, the Kwid flaunts its muscular SUV-like design that helped the hatchback gain popularity.

Similar to the Maruti Suzuki Alto, the Renault Kwid is offered with an 800cc or larger 1.0-litre engine with manual and AMT transmissions. Also, Renault Kwid’s bold design and high ground clearance only complimented the popularity of the entry-level hatchback.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is offered with a new 1.0-litre K-series engine mated to either a manual or AMT transmission, which contributes to good fuel economy. Also, the new suite of standard safety features in the S-Presso has made it a compelling choice in the segment, even when compared to the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto.
