Airbags in cars: The Indian car market is constantly transforming. Once Indians were crazy about small and high mileage cars are nowadays crazy about SUVs. While buying a car or SUV, apart from the mileage, people have started paying attention to one more thing for the last few years and that is the Airbags.

The Government of India have also shown its seriousness about car safety due heavy increase in road accidents. Airbags play an important role in protecting the occupants of the vehicle during any fatal Accident. If the car has more than two airbags, they also protect the passengers from the side.
Airbags help protect the head, chest, and abdomen
The airbag opens at a very high speed whenever the car collides. It prevents travellers collision and helps in protecting the head, chest, and abdominal area of the passengers. Statistics show that in the year 2021, there were a total of 4,03,116 accidents happened. In which 1,55,662 people died and 3,71,884 were injured.

Earlier, the government made two airbags mandatory in the car, one for the driver and the other for the co-driver. Now, the draft is ready to introduce a rule of making six airbags mandatory. It will get two airbags each in the front and rear seating positions and two airbags in the side curtains.
Apart from airbags, the central government is working on a plan to make rear seat belt alarms and three-point seat belts mandatory. This rule is also included in the new draft. According to the new rules, at least 6 airbags should be made mandatory in a vehicle that can seat 8 people.
