How to check Accident History of a car

New Delhi: Second-Hand car market has huge potential in India as a decent number of people buy such vehicles to save money. However, unaware of technicalities, buyers usually make mistakes and not checking its “Accident History” is one of them.

In fact, the majority of customers do not know the concept of checking accidental history, which makes buyers pay a heavy price later. It can include bad health of the car, resulting in constant need for repair and service. In this article, we will guide you through the process.

Steps to check “Accident History” of any vehicle in India

  • To check the accident history of any vehicle, first of all, you have to see the RC number of the vehicle, from which additional details of the vehicle are easily available.
  • After taking the RC number plate, you will have to visit the official website of the RTO office where the vehicle is registered.
  • Now you have to go to the official website and select your state and RTO location, after that you will get the vehicle information section.
  • You can check the accident record of your vehicle by entering the registration number on the RTO website.
  • This will give you instant information about how many accidents the car has been gone through and whether or not it has been declared a “scrapped” vehicle by the authorities.

Buyers can also check the vehicle’s history by visiting the website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), which gives information about the registration, fitness, tax and insurance details of the vehicle.

The Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD) was launched by the Road Transport and Highways Department. Police, with help of the app, fill in the complete details of the accident, which directly reaches the Government of India.
