Delhi Government’s Crack Down On Vehicles For Not Displaying These Stickers? Does Your Vehicle Have These!

If the vehicle fails to comply with the rule the vehicle could be issued a penalty under the Section 192(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988- Details Below-

The Transport Authority has been on the move to scrutinize and penalize vehicles and drivers for not following traffic laws with significant charges and punishments for better traffic decorum. In the same pursuit the Delhi Transport Authority has revealed its new pursuit to penalize vehicles that do not have any color coded stickers indicating the fuel type of the vehicle. Vehicles without these color coded stickers would be penalized for more than Rs 5,000, users who fail to comply with the scheme would not get Pollution Control Certificate for their vehicles as well.

The stickers that are being mandated were a part of HSRP protocol mandated in 2012-13 and were made compulsory for all vehicles by the year 2019.

As per the official statement via Delhi Transport Authority, the Motor Vehicles Act order of 2018 mandates the drivers to equip their vehicles with Color-Coded stickers/Third registration mark on the windshield of the vehicle.  If the vehicle fails to comply with the rule the vehicle could be issued a penalty under the Section 192(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, Beyond that, Section 192(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act States the Punishment for those who drive or allow a vehicle to be driven while disobeying the rule can lead to action on the basis of section 39 that relates to registration.

Rules And Guidelines As Established Back In 2020

The Delhi Transport department had decided to launch a special drive against violations of the High -Security number Plate -HSRP- Under Which there was a provision of a Fine Amounting to Rs 5,000 on any vehicle found plying without HSRP and Stickers pasted on Number Plates.

It was in the year 2019 that Delhi Government made HSRP protocols mandatory for all new vehicles in April 2019. No matter how old or new your vehicle was it is fit to run on the road the vehicle was to be fitted with a sticker- The Diesel Powered Vehicle are signified with orange stickers, while Petrol and CNG vehicles are highlighted with light blue. – beyond these all other vehicles are notified with grey coloured stickers.
