Toyota seems to be in the pursuit of overhauling its Corolla moniker. The brand has showcased the concept ahead of its debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. The concept, which has been previewed before the Japan Mobility Show, features sharp lines, full-width LED lights, and a possible full EV powertrain. The new concept showcases a bold new direction for the world’s best-selling car. However, Toyota has not confirmed its launch or development status.
The Legendary Corolla Going Electric
The Toyota Corolla is up for a major transformation, and this time it might just go electric. The brand has confirmed that it will showcase a new concept at the Japan Mobility Show on October 29. The sneak peek into what could be the next generation of the sedan will give us a better idea of what changes Toyota has been planning to inculcate into the Corolla.
Toyota’s New Campaign
The new Corolla has been seen for the first time in Toyota’s latest video campaign, titled To You, Toyota. The new version looks futuristic and shows sharp lines and full-width LED lights. The new design language suggests that the car might shift to an EV powertrain.
Toyota has not revealed any details about the launch of the vehicle yet. Whether this is the next chapter in the evolution of the Corolla brand or just a design experiment to rouse interest, we don’t know yet. The new concept does showcase the brand’s foray into a new era where design, style, and technology come together to redefine the world’s most popular car.
Design Details That Suggest the New Model Could Be an EV
The absence of a traditional grille at the front suggests that the new car might be powered by an EV powertrain—a traditional styling element of EVs, since they do not need air cooling. While from the front the car looks like a sports coupe, from the side profile it becomes apparent that the car is a saloon. At the back, the car has a ducktail-style spoiler.
What stands out about the design is the prominent front windshield and minimal A-pillars and B-pillars. The possibility of the saloon being an EV is further reassured by the presence of an EV charger outlet at the front quarter panel.
Beyond the Corolla, Toyota has also showcased a new sports car that will possibly be powered by an EV powertrain as well.
