New Delhi: Due to increasing pollution in the country, the government and private companies are emphasizing on electric vehicles. This is the reason why the sale of electric vehicles has increased rapidly in the last few years in India. If we look at the sales of electric vehicles, an increase of 151.7 percent has been registered in the sales of electric cars in May 2023 as compared to May 2022. Last month, a total of 7,437 electric cars were sold in India, whereas in May 2022, this figure was only 2,961 units of cars sold.
Talking about passenger electric cars, Tata Motors is in the strongest position in the country with a share of more than 75%. At the same time, the sales of MG Motor and Mahindra are also slowly picking up pace. At the same time, there is also a car manufacturer which has achieved good growth as soon as it entered the Indian market.
Citroen eC3 has done wonders
Citroen launched its mini electric car Citroën eC3 in India in January 2023 and sales of this car have picked up pace in just five months. In May 2023, the company has sold 308 units of eC3. And from January to May 2023, the company has sold 1,661 cars. Let us tell you that its direct loss is going to happen to Tata Motors, Mahindra and MG. Hyundai’s electric cars are also not able to show anything special. Hyundai sold only 163 units of electric cars in May. Hyundai is selling two electric models in India – Kona EV and Ioniq 5.
Price
The Citroën eC3 is the electric version of the company’s mini SUV C3. The eC3 is priced between Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 12.76 lakh (ex-showroom). This electric SUV comes with a 29.2kWh battery pack. Its electric motor generates 57PS of power and 143Nm of torque. It has a driving range of 320km (ARAI-rated) on a full charge.
