New Delhi: The prices of the recently launched Citroen C3 have been increased by up to Rs 17,000. The starting price of Citroen C3 is now Rs 5.88 lakh (ex-showroom), which was earlier Rs 5.71 lakh ex-showroom. After the increase in price, now the price of Citroen C3 has reached between Rs 5.88 lakh to Rs 8.15 lakh ex-showroom. The base live variant and the mid-feel variant have received a price hike of Rs 17,000 while the top-spec variant with the turbo petrol engine has received a price hike of Rs 9,000.

Its 1.2 petrol live variant has gone up to Rs 5.88 lakh, which was earlier Rs 5.71 lakh. Its price has increased by Rs 17,000. At the same time, the price of 1.2 petrol feel variant has gone up to Rs 6.80 lakh, which was earlier Rs 6.63 lakh. Its price has also increased by Rs 17,000. Apart from these, the price of 1.2 turbo petrol feel variant has gone up to Rs 8.15 lakh, which was Rs 8.06 lakh earlier. Its price has increased by Rs 9,000.
Citroen has not disclosed the reason for the increase in prices. However, this may be a move due to rising input costs. Going by the prices of the Citroen C3, it is Rs. 4,000 cheaper than the Tata Punch, Rs. 11,000 cheaper than the Renault Kiger and Rs. 9,000 cheaper than the Nissan Magnite. Apart from these, it also competes with the Maruti WagonR in the market, whose price starts from 5.47 lakhs and goes up to 7.20 lakhs.

However, the sales of the Citroen C3 are quite low. Citroen sold 550 units in July and 825 units in August, while cars like Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger have average sales of 2,000 and 5,000 units per month. At the same time, Maruti WagonR has also been the best selling car many times (during a month).
