After introducing the C5 Aircross and C3 Aircross, Citroen is preparing to launch its third vehicle – the Citroen Basalt SUV – in India. This SUV was teased earlier this year but as a concept. It has been spotted testing disguised on Indian roads several times. However, the latest spy shots have emerged online revealing the Citroen Basalt SUV without any camouflage.
The SUV was spotted undergoing tests undisguised in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The Basalt is expected to make its India debut sometime in the second half of this year. Here is what you can expect from the much-anticipated SUV:
Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV: Design
The spy shots reveal a clear look at the exterior of the Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV, unveiling its rear and side profiles as well as the couple-style design. You can see the sloping roofline seamlessly merging with the boot.
The Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV sports black rear bumpers, large wheel arches, black accents surrounding the windows from the A to C pillar, wraparound tail lamps, and black ORVMs.
While the test mule comes with steel wheels, the SUV is expected to arrive with a choice of 15-inch or 16-inch alloy wheels when it is launched. Spy images that were revealed earlier have already provided a glimpse of the design at the front, largely based on the concept car. The SUV is expected to feature a slim grille carrying the Citroen logo, body-coloured bumpers with fog lights, and LED projector headlights with daytime running lights.

Although specific details of the powertrain are still under wraps, the Citroen Basalt SUV is expected to pack the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine found in the C3 SUV Aircross. The power plant is capable of churning out 109hp of power and 205Nm of peak torque. This motor could be linked to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
