BYD has been a force to reckon with in the EV world, the brand has been able to gain a formidable presence over the years through their overall innovation and tech. As per a recent news update, the brand has been able to gain formidable praise for their new innovative technology through which they allege a EV vehicle can be fully charged in a matter of minutes.
As per news reports by Bloomberg, the automaker’s stocks showcased a steep rise of 6% at the opening of trading in Hong Kong Tuesday after the new innovative charging set was unveiled. The market value of the company has now risen to $162 billion.
The new innovation that the brand has been able to establish is gaining recognition for being able to charge a vehicle for 400 km’s of range in 5 minutes. And this is not a concept or a tech that is a prototype, rather the brand has already tested the new tech and would be equipping their vehicles with the new technology from next month.
BYD Tops The Ability To Provide EV Charge Times
The new charging platform would underpin a variety of future electric vehicles. BYD has plans to build and extend a circuit of 4,000 charging stations access China to serve the new generation of EV’s. However it did not disclose any specific timeline to complete the rollout. The charging speed that the brand has achieved would be comfortably ahead of Tesla’s Superchargers which are known for adding 275 km of range within 15 minutes. Beyond that, Tesla has a much larger network of more than 65,000 superchargers worldwide.
BYD has been able to give its vehicles a superior edge above other competitive vehicles in the recent past. The new EV platform that they have been using would be able to each speed upto 100 km/h in 2 seconds. This is no short feat. BYD has already shared plans about the models that would be equipped with the new ultra-fast charging.
These would include the Han L and Tang L SUV. They would start at 270,000 yuan and 280,000 yuan respectively, and would be sold from April. BYD has plans to commence the establishment of 4000 charging stations designed to accommodate the new technology.
Fast Charging Status In India
While BYD might be commencing to initiate the next step into the world of EV charging the charging infrastructure in India still lacks such services. While we have been able to get DC superfast charging their reach is limited to power stations and the AC charging setups are limited by the KW capacity of usual AC electricity connections. Such increased investments from manufacturers might soon bring new fast charging innovations to India as well.
