In a news update BMW has announced that its gearing up to launch two new large capacity bikes at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Auto Expo in 2025. The two bikes that the brand plans to launch would be a S1000 RR as well as ar1300 GSA. The GSA is a new model year and is company’s new flagship adventure bike.
Launch Details
The upcoming R 1300 GSA would replace the outgoing R1250 GSA in BMW’s lineup. The new bike would have loads of driver aids and new technologies that would allow it to be a perfect off road adventure bike. The bike would have radar assisted features along with BMW’s automated assist. The GSA being an upgrade over the existing 1250 GSA would have a price tag of around Rs 22.50 Lakh Rs.
BMW S1000 RR
The sport bike would also get a few changes but would mechanically be similar to the current version. The other visual difference that would be the addition of wheel covers to the front wheel of the bike. The bike would also have cooling ducts that would direct cold air towards the brake calipers. The S1000 RR would supposedly be priced between Rs 20.75 lakh Rs to 25.25 lakh Rs. When the new Bike launces it would possibly be offered at a higher price considering the changes that it would have.
BMW S1000 RR New Patented Changes
The engineers at BMW have crafted an array of newer airflow innovations which have revealed the possible design changes the new BMW S1000 RR would receive. As per the news reports, in only last few months BMW has filed several new patents regarding moveable Winglets, Passive Internal Ducting as well as adaptive flaps for better downforce while hard cornering and acceleration.
BMW is ready to take the design elements to a whole new level with adaptive flaps that would cover the radiators when the bike needs lesser cooling.
BMW To Make Winglets Redundant
While the Aerodynamic Winglets have been able to increase the downforce aggressively. They do protrude and make the bikes storage a hassle. Hence BMW has been hard at work in producing new Aerodynamic features that would allow the bike to have similar downforce without any new and additional bolt on parts.
The Changes In The New Design
As per the new patent that BMW has applied for – they have been working for a system that detaches the air pressure from the body of the bike just ahead of the handlebars. BMW engineers have added additional separation edges – this would help the bike to be able to scoop more high pressure air through the intake duct without any protruding winglets. The BMW patent further explains that the flap would act more like a Gurney flap providing the vehicle with better downforce. While these are patented changes they would soon find their way to production spec vehicles soon in the future.
While the brand is launching the new GSA adventure, its possible that the new S1000 RR might also make it to India.
