BMW is preparing to globally launch the new-generation M5 after introducing the latest generation 5 Series last year. The German automaker has teased the upcoming M5 once again with a social media post.
BMW has confirmed that the testing phase of the M5 is complete, indicating an imminent global debut, despite not yet announcing the official launch date. Reports indicate that the new M5 might debut by the end of June 2024.
The latest teaser reveals the new M5 under covers, showing LED DRLs and an illuminated grille. Earlier images and videos shared by BMW have featured the M5 undergoing testing in sedan and estate body styles, heavily camouflaged.

The M5 will use the standard wheelbase 5 Series sold in Europe and the all-electric i5 in India as its base. The new-generation internal combustion 5 Series is scheduled to launch in India on July 24, marking its debut in long-wheelbase form.
The new-generation BMW M5 is expected to include a robust hybrid powertrain that pairs the familiar 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 petrol engine with an on-board battery pack and electric motors, akin to those found in the XM model.
The V8 engine on the BMW XM produces 640 bhp and 738 Nm of peak torque, surpassing the outgoing M5 CS, which generates 625 bhp and 750 Nm. An 8-speed automatic transmission will pair the motor, directing power to all four wheels.
