Indian automotive market has always been in the dearth of enthusiast vehicles. But the current launch of the new Skoda VRS would seemingly bring some relief to the users.
The Octavia VRS is the enthusiast vehicle that the Indian market was missing ever since its last launch. The vehicle is the performance oriented vehicle of the Skoda Octavia. The Octavia performance has been through a series of evolution before being brought to India. Hence it has all the features one would expect from a performance oriented vehicles.
New Design
The Octavia VRS has a signature design along with a butterfly grille. The car has a new design for the headlight and bumper. The car has led matrix headlights as well as LED tail lights as well.
Beyond that the buyers would provided with a 13 inch floating touchscreen and wireless android auto and apple car play. The car would further have a digital instrument cluster along with ambient lighting and a new sound system. Needless to point out the car would have all the possible bells and whistles included with top spec cars such as ventilated seats , dual zone climate control as well as a wireless charging.
Performance
The car would be powered by a 2.0 liter Turbo Petrol engine which churns out about 261 bhp and a peak torque of about 370nm. The power unit of the vehicle is paired with a 7 speed -DCT gearbox as well. The car can easily reach the speeds of 100 from o in only 6.4 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle around 250kmph.
The Third Generation Octavia VRS
The model that was available before the current gen Octavia RS that is about to be launched in India was that it showcased a major leap from the second generation of the Octavia. The car was available globally with a bevy of engines which made the following horsepower numbers ranging from 220 hp to 245 hp. The generation also had a diesel engine, the Indian version had a 1.8 TSI as well as a 2.0 TDI. The current model would have a turbo petrol engine that produces 261 hp. The prices have not been revealed yet, but the last RS245 was priced around 36 lakh Rs.
