New Delhi: Bajaj Auto has discontinued the Pulsar 180 in India, with the model no longer listed on the manufacturer’s website. The company did not specify why it did. So, we believe it could be due to low demand for the model.
The 180cc version was one of the first Pulsar models to be launched. The model was first discontinued in 2019. Before BS6 emissions standards, and was replaced by its semi-favourite sibling the 180F. In February last year, Bajaj re-introduced the Pulsar 180, replacing the 180F.
The Pulsar 180 was powered by a 178.6cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produced 17bhp at 8,500rpm and 14.2Nm at 6,500rpm and mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
In terms of equipment, it featured a halogen headlight, a rear LED headlight and a digi-analog instrument cluster. Suspension was handled by a telescopic fork and monoshock. The braking was handled by a 280mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc. It also included single-channel ABS was standard.
While the discontinuation of the 180 may be disappointing for Pulsar purists, the possibilities for newer Pulsar models in the range is open.
