New Delhi: TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System in vehicles and it is a normal feature found in modern vehicles. Maintaining optimum tire pressure in the tires of the vehicle is essential for their performance and better mileage. It is also very important for the safety of the vehicle and to prevent accidents. But still most people do not know how it works and why it is most important. Here we will tell you all the questions related to TPMS that you have in your mind.
What is TPMS?
The TPMS system provides real-time air-pressure updates to the users and helps them to monitor the tire pressure while driving. If the tire pressure becomes low or exceeds the requirement, it alerts the drivers well in advance.
TPMS consists of sensors, a receiver and a display unit are seen in it. Normally the sensor is connected to the valve stem of each tire or integrated inside the tire pressure valve. It monitors the air pressure and temperature of the tyres. Data from the sensor is transmitted to the receiver, after which it is sent to the display unit.
TPMS can be connected externally using normal TPMS device. These are of two types, first direct and second and indirect, here we will tell you what is the difference between these two.
This is the difference between direct and indirect
Direct TPMS: Using a normal TPMS device and connecting it externally directly, it monitors the pressure of each tire individually.
Indirect TPMS: Indirect TPMS tells you the estimated tire pressure. In this, instead of telling the pressure of each of your tires separately, it is told together.
Why is this feature important
TPMS is a very important feature and there are many reasons behind it which makes it an essential feature for the car. Its biggest and most important task is that the pressure in the tires of the car should be according to the requirement, due to which the users get a lot of benefits.
It enhances the safety by checking proper tire inflation and if the tire pressure is correct then your car remains stable on the road. In such a situation, the risk of damage to the tires while driving is less.
