Audi R8, the supercar from the Volkswagen family group is all set to make a comeback. But this time with a new engine. As per recent reports it has become apparent that the new car would be launched with a Hybrid V8 engine lifted out of the latest Lamborghini V8 supercar. The new model would have a power figure of around 1000Hp, with new Hybrid technology that has been taken from Lamborghini Huracan. A few reports have also suggested that the new Audi R8 could be the most powerful Audi ever built for the public roads.
The upcoming Audi R8 coupe or roadster would likely share key components of the drivetrain with Lamborghini Temerario, continuing the tradition of the older Audi R8 models. The powertrains sharing in between the two models have been going on for a few generations the first gen R8 was based on the Lamborghini Gallardo, while the second generation Audi R8 used the Huracan platform. Since the Hurricane has been discontinued and would be replaced by the Temerario’s powertrain. The partnership has always resulted in high performing vehicles and similar results are expected this time as well.
Audi R8 Powertrain And Performance
The new upcoming car would possibly be powered by a 4.0 Litre Twin Turbo V8 engine which would produce 798 BHP and 729 Nm of torque. The drivetrain is coupled with electric motors achieving a total power of about 907 Bhp. There have also been reports that suggest that Audi would soon launch performance oriented version of the car that would take the power figure to a 1000 Hp. Audi would not be the only manufacturer moving towards Hybrid power Porsche too has plans of launching a Hybrid powered 911 in early 2025 and beyond that Mercedes, AMG and Maclaren have also made a Hybrid system an integral part of their sports car.
