With the fast approaching Bharat Mobility Expo, brands have been gearing up to show case their new entrants in the market. Skoda is one of them as well, and would probably bring in a host of new vehicles including ICE variants as well as new EV’s. Here are all the vehicles the brand is expected to showcase in India soon.
All New Skoda Kodiaq
The all new Kodiaq would also be presented at the Bharat Expo , the car has been designed keeping the profound Modern -Solid Design Philosophy followed by Skoda. The feature list of the new vehicle would include a heads-up-display, Skoda’s Smart Dials, and a Digital Cockpit for the driver. Just like the Superb the Kodiaq would also have a steering mounted Gear Selector Knob. As per the official word the vehicle would be powered by the 2 litre TSi Turbo Charged engine that provides about 201 BHP. It’s the first time that the Indian variant would be launched with the Dynamic Chassis Control as well.
The New Skoda Superb
The Superb was already a part of the Indian market but in the recent past the brand called off the production of the saloon, amid the low sales projected by the car. Earlier in the year the Superb that was already on sale went through a bs6 conversion and received a facelift. After that, the car was reintroduced to the Indian market earlier this year before being called off by the brand.
Upon its Re- entry into the Indian market, the Superb was pitched as a CBU ( Completely Built Unit) import. Hence, the price of the car was about 54 lakhs which was a big reason behind the low sales rate. As of yet Skoda has announced a formidable price drop of about 18 lakhs in the price and the 4rth generation of the vehicle is yet to make its re-entry into the Indian market. The new entrant would be featured at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Visitors would be able to witness the vehicle and experience its new features such as the 13 inch Infotainment Screen, fast charging capabilities for your phone and a segment first HUD which is a completely new addition to the Superb.
Skoda Octavia RS
This car would be targeted towards enthusiast buyers of the market. The Indian market has had a long dearth of enthusiast cars, and hence the Octavia Rs would be a formidable entrant in the Indian market. As of yet the its believed that the Indian version would be powered by the 2 litre TSI engine with a power output of about 268 BHP and a peak torque figure of about 370 NM. The Octavia RS would come with a 7 speed DSG gearbox. As per the Director Petr Janeba both the Kodiaq Rs as well as the Octavia RS both are viable options for the brand to provide in the Indian market.
Skoda Kylaq
Beyond this Skoda India would also bring in Skoda Kylaq that was recently launched unveiled at the expo. Its possible that the brand might bring Enyaq iV at the Bharat Mobility Expo as well.
Skoda Elroq EV
Elroq is another vehicle that is supposed to launch at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo in January. Skoda as of yet is evaluating the market and checking out the feasibility of launching the new Elroq EV in India. In the global market the EV is offered with 3 battery packs, a 55 KWH, 63KWH unit as well as a 82 KWH battery pack. The vehicle has both a AWD as well as a RWD version. As of yet it is still unclear which one of these would be made available in India.
Skoda Enyaq iV
Skoda Enyaq was considered to be the first EV that Skoda planned to launch in India. The vehicle was also seen being tested thoroughly in the last few days. It seems that Skoda is working on a major update for the vehicle in India. The version that would be launched in India would possibly have a 77 KWH battery pack that would deliver a range of around 513 km per charge. The overall architecture of the vehicle is based on Volkswagen’s Born Electric MEB Architecture.
As of yet the MEB platform has been used in producing 9 vehicles, such as the Audi q4 E-tron, Cupra Tavascan Skoda Elroq and many more. The main aim behind the development of the platform was reduce and consolidate the electronic controls and reduce the number of Micro-processors. Following the success of the architecture platform it has also been sold of to ford for new ford vehicles, and in 2022 there were talks of how Mahindra might borrow the tech behind the platform for their own “Inglo” platform.
