New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is about to update one of its most popular hatchback cars, the Wagon R as per the upcoming RDE norms, which will come into effect from April 1, 2023. The new 2023 Maruti Wagon R will get 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines. Both these engines will be tuned to meet the BS6 Stage II emission norms.
How is the engine?
The 1.0L engine of Maruti Wagon R generates maximum power of 67bhp and torque of 89Nm, while the 1.2L petrol engine generates power of 90bhp and torque of 113Nm. Both the engines use DualJet, Dual Variable Valve Timing, Idle Start Stop and Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation technology, which is known for better fuel economy and lower carbon emissions. The new 2023 Maruti WagonR will also get the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit with the 1.0-litre petrol engine, which will be capable of generating a maximum power of 57bhp in CNG mode.
Gets great mileage?
For the Wagon R, the company claims a mileage of 24.35kmpl for the 1.0L petrol engine with manual transmission and 25.19kmpl with AMT. While the manual and AMT gearbox for the 1.2L petrol engine get mileage of 23.56kmpl and 24.43kmpl respectively. Whereas with its 1.0 liter CNG model this car gives a mileage of 34.05 km per kg. The new 2023 Maruti Wagon R model will be available in four trims namely LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+.
How are the features?
Features in the new Wagon R include 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity, 4-speaker audio system, tachometer, front passenger side seat with tray below, hill hold control, speed sensitive auto doors. With keyless entry, idle start/stop system, turn indicators on wing mirrors, front fog lamps, blacked-out B-pillar, central locking, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, speed alert, seatbelt reminder, ABS with EBD, Features like steering wheel mounted controls, rear wiper, washer and defogger are also available.
Competes with i20
The car competes with the Hyundai i20, which gets a 1.0L and a 1.2L petrol engine option. It has the option of both manual and automatic transmission.
