New Delhi: India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has recently unveiled the new Grand Vitara SUV. Based on the Toyota urban cruiser Hyryder, the Grand Vitara is now the flagship sport utility vehicle in the company’s portfolio. This mid-size SUV will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Design and Color Options
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is a good looking SUV. It looks bigger than its other piers. At the front, it gets a large chrome grille with the Suzuki logo in the middle. The grille of the SUV is surrounded by LED DRLs while the headlamps are located below. It gets 17-inch machine-cut alloy wheels at the rear and connected LED taillamps.
Maruti Suzuki will offer the Grand Vitara SUV in six mono-tone colors and three dual-tone shades. The mono-tone colors are Chestnut Brown, Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Gray and Opulent Red, while the dual-tone paint scheme includes Black with Arctic White, Black with Splendid Silver and Black with Opulent Red.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Engine and Gearbox
Maruti’s latest flagship SUV will be offered in India with two engine options. It will get a 1.5-litre petrol engine with robust hybrid technology, which will be mated to the e-CVT.

This is the same powertrain that will work in the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder as well. This makes it the most fuel efficient SUV in India. It makes 91 Bhp and 122 Nm while the electric motor makes 79 Bhp and 141 Nm.
The combined output of this powertrain is rated at 114 Bhp. The second engine will be Maruti’s 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol unit that will generate 101 bhp and 136.8 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AT. Apart from this, an optional AWD system will also be available in its manual variant.

Talking about the features, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with Suzuki’s Connected Car technology.

Some other features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats. The SUV gets safety equipment like 360-degree parking camera, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, TPMS.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Price and Competition
The pre-bookings for the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have already started. The SUV can be booked by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.
It will be sold through Nexa dealerships. The company is expected to reveal the prices in September and it is likely to be priced at Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will compete with vehicles like Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
