In a shocking incident, two sisters, who were staying at Brahma Kumaris Ashram in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, allegedly died by suicide, blaming four employees in their suicide note.
The deceased identified as Ekta (38) and Shikha (32) had been staying at the ashram in Agra’s Jagner area for one year.
In a 3-page suicide note, the duo alleged that the four employees were involved in immoral activities and also usurping their money to the tune of Rs 25 lakh. They even requested Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that the accused should get life imprisonment like self-styled godman Asaram, who was convicted of raping a minor girl at his ashram in Rajasthan.
Two Held, Hunt On For Others
Speaking on the development in the case, Kheragarh Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mahesh Kumar said two accused have been arrested and teams have been formed to nab others.
The police said that Ekta and Shikha took their spiritual initiation from the Brahma Kumaris eight years ago. Later, their family built a Brahma Kumari centre in Jagner, where they both were living.
In her suicide note, Shikha mentioned they were in distress for the past year and blamed the ashram’s “Neeraj Singhal, Tarachand, Neeraj’s father and a woman staying at Gwalior for their deaths.” The duo has accused the four of defrauding people of lakhs in the name of the Brahma Kumaris center.
Giving an account of Rs 25 lakh in the note, Shikha said their father sold a plot to give Rs 7 lakh to people associated with the ashram, and Rs 18 lakh was collected from poor women.

The spiritual movement known as the Brahma Kumaris originated in Hyderabad, Sindh, in the 1930s. Lekhraj Kripalani founded this movement, which focuses on a form of meditation, highlighting the concept of identity as souls rather than physical bodies.
