It’s 30 years since Dirty Dancing enamored us mere mortals longing for love and fantasy.
Middle-class Jewish teenager gets her parents’ blessing after hooking up with a Catholic, working-class, more ordinary than her, at a summer resort? Only in the 1980s could you get away with a storyline like that. And only in the 80s do the lovebirds go on to shatter class divisions by flash-mobbing hotel guests at dinner time!!
It’s a narrative more improbable than sci-fi, but Dirty Dancing still manages to highlight two important truths – first, that youthful indulgence can help solve society’s ills, and second, "daddy’s girl privileges" can be harnessed to foster social unity.
Don't we want a Desi version these two dreamy people also? Well, our wish would just seem to be granted!
Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon’s last outing, 'Raabta' tanked at the box office, their pairing made the headlines for all the right reasons.
Looks like the two are all set to collaborate again on the big screen for the Hindi remake of 1987 cult movie, 'Dirty Dancing'.
Lionsgate Television, that produced a television movie by the same name in 2017 is keen on making an Indian version with the same storyline.
A source close to the development revealed to a tabloid, that the script is currently being worked to suit the Indian audience. The main storyline of the movie is expected to be the same.
Here are two reasons they would be perfect to reprise the roles of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze:
1. Their awesome chemistry: Raabta displayed their covetable chemistry. It was an unexplainable connection. It was actually unexplainable. In 'Raabta' what's more interesting is that when first time the characters meet as strangers, the feel the strange connection that they can't understand. So that's the freshness they brought to the story. The instant connection is what jolted us and got us interested into the movie.
2. They are amazing dancers: The source further mentioned that Sushant and Kriti are skilled dancers, and hence are the top contenders for the lead roles.
Reportedly before Sushant and Kriti, the makers had approached Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani for the same. But the duo turned down the offer because of their hectic schedules.
