Lucknow: Congress on Monday hinted at a national-level alliance to oust PM Narendra Modi-led NDA government in 2019. Senior Congress leader Pramod Tewari said this at the News24 conclave- News24 UP Manthan, being held here.
Justifying the alliance with Samajwadi Party for the UP polls, Congress Rajya Sabha MP and veteran UP leader Pramod Tewari said that the alliance in UP was done to respect the wishes of UP voters who think that Akhilesh Yadav is the best bet to improve the fate of Uttar Pradesh. "Day is not far that there will a national-level alliance to wipe out BJP," Tewari added.
Commenting on the alliance, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said that the Bihar formula will not work in UP as BSP is not part of the alliance. " The political parties fear Modiji, and the alliance is a proof of that as Congress has abandoned its '27 saal UP behaal' slogan to join hands with SP in a bid to stop Modi wave," Pal added.
The Congress leader said that if Congress-SP aliance is voted to power, there will be a coordination panel to guide the government. He also promised that the Cong-SP government will reduce electricity tariffs by 50% and announce loan waiver for the farmers.
