National | March 19, 2018, 4:40 p.m.

New Delhi, March 19: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao meets his West Bengal counterpart and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata. Rao, president of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti met Mamata to discuss the possibility of creating a third front with like-minded parties ahead of the 2019 polls.

This meeting has to be seen in a perspective; as the two chief ministers wish to form a non-BJP and non Congress alternative.

Mamata Banerjee had spoken to Rao recently and proposed formation of a non-Congress and non-BJP front at the national level, ahead of the next years Lok Sabha polls.

The discussions are focused on creating some kind of regional formation for setting up a political front with like-minded parties and for creating an agenda for the country's growth.

The outcome of the discussions are yet to be mae public, but reports suggest that the two shared views and the meeting ended on a constructive note.
