New Delhi: It is an end of an era. In a sudden decision Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Wednesday stepped down as captain of the Indian Cricket Team in the One Day and the T20 formats. He informed BCCI of his wish to step down. He has been replaced by Virat Kohli.
However, Dhoni said he will be available for the selection in both ODI and T20 format. This puts an end to speculation about how long MS Dhoni will continue as the captain of the limited over teams, in the back drop of Virat Kohli's outstanding performance as a captain of Test team. Dhoni has now silenced the critics with his shocking decision.
"On the behalf of every Indian cricket fan and the BCCI, I would like to thank MS Dhoni for his outstanding contribution as the captain of the Indian team across all formats. Under his leadership, Indian team has touched new heights and his achievements will remain etched forever in the annals of Indian cricket, said Mr Rahul Johri, Chief Executive Officer of the BCCI, on Dhoni's decision.
