New Delhi, Oct 21: The Mersal controversy refuses to die. Every time it appears that the flak appears to be subsiding, a new one raises head. Now ace filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has come out with an accusing finger,"Some who are supporting Mersal now were silent when I needed support for Indu Sarkar. This is selective criticism." His film Indu Sarkar, which appears to be inspired by the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had raked in lot of controversy.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to "interfere" in the just-released movie "Mersal", saying cinema was a "deep expression" of Tamil culture.
The comments came a day after Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan demanded removal of dialogues portraying what he termed as "untruths" about the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the Vijay-starrer movie.
"Mr Modi, Cinema is a deep expression of Tamil culture and language. Dont try to demon-etise Tamil pride by interfering in Mersal," Gandhi said in a tweet.
Yesterday, Radhakrishnan had demanded the removal of the "untruths" about the GST, rolled out by the BJP-led NDA government on July 1.
"The film producer should remove the untruths regarding the GST from the film," Radhakrishnan had said.
