New Delhi, April 16: Reliance Jio created a big hype in the DTH segment with its plans of JioDTH but latest report claims that the company has dropped the plan but will be coming with much bigger to offer. The company is said to be working on a gadget called JioHomeTV, that will offer 200 SD and HD channels to customers at a price of just Rs 400. If reports to be believed, we can expect the announcement in coming weeks.
In a recent report by TelecomTalk which claimed Jio will offer 200 SD and HD channels to customers at a price of just Rs 400 and same plan was listed in Jio app but when searched on the app it was not available. It is also unclear if it will replace JioDTH. Be it JioHomeTv or JioDTH both will make the telco's causing a stir in the DTH segment.
As per reports, JioHomeTV works on the principle of Enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) that the company is testing over a long time. It is a technology that mixes the one-to-many broadcasting technique, mainly used in television and radio broadcasts, with the one-to-one pattern used by the telecos, to enhance the scalability of the broadcast, this hints Jio dropping JioDTH plan.
