Chhattisgarh Manthan: Raman Singh looks forward to a fresh term next year

New Delhi, Dec 11: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh attended the highly interactive session of Chhattisgrah Manthan, a Conclave oragnised by News24 in Raipur. Many topical and sensitive issues like Naxalism, unemployment, demonetization, deforestation among many other topics as well, were discussed at length and many facts were put threadbare.

The frankness with which the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister faced the tricky questions hurled at him by News24 Editor-in-chief Anuradha Prasad was what made the session so lively and interesting.

The Chhatissgarh chief Minister is looking at a next tenure of BJP rule during the 2018 election with optimism, little caring if he will continue to be at the helm in the state or not. He says that during the forthcoming elections, they will go to the people of the state with the figures of progress since 2003.

Stressing on the role of the Opposition, the chief minister said Opposition is important and has an important role to play in Democracy.

The session started on a note of thanks to your news channel News24 by the chief minister. He took this opportunity and recounted the achievements of his government in last 14 years.

On being pricked that despite this huge body of work, why he is still not considered the poster-boy of BJP whereas the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, despite a short tenure is hailed by the BJP from different platforms. The chief minister had a grudge with the national media and said that the achievements of the state are not highlighted properly.

The chief minister looked optimistic about his victory in the assembly elections to be held next year and cleverly put aside the question where he was asked to respond that why BJP president Amit Shah shies away from calling him the chief minister after the polls.

The CM highlighted the achievements of his government in handling the menace of terrorism in a big way, by bringing the disgruntled people of the state in the main-stream. He said that the remote parts, which was earlier inaccessible has been brought to mainstream by connecting it with good roads and infrastructure.
