Xiaomi may skip Mi 7 and launch Mi 8 on its 8th anniversary

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi will be celebrating its 8th anniversary in coming days with its latest flagship phone which could be called as Mi 8 instead of previously anticipated Mi 7. The latest pictures surfaced online reveals that Mi 8 will be available in two variants with different price tags. Going by the leaked pics, the first variant of Mi 8 will have 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage for CNY2,799 which approximately calculates to Rs 29883 INR while a high-end version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for CNY3,199 which is roughly Rs 34153 INR

Chinese smartphone maker Honor launched its flagship smartphone "Honor 10" enabled with artificial intelligence and for the first time in aurora colours. It has been priced at Rs 32,999 for the Indian market. "Before 2016, most phones came in just three colours: black, white and gold. Honor introduced Phantom Blue in 2016, Phantom Grey in 2017 and now the exquisite Aurora, a true breakthrough in smartphone design," said Honor President George Zhao. Vivo Apex LEAKED: Know launch date, special features and specifications

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is all set to launch its much-anticipated Apex smartphone next month. The Vivo Apex was first seen at MWC 2018 and its formal announcement was made in March this year. The highlight features of the smartphone include a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, an elevating selfie camera and half-screen fingerprinting scanning tech. The smartphone will be unveiled at an event in Shanghai on June 12 showcasing market-ready version of the Vivo Apex will be introduced. The Apex smartphone will also come with world's first half-screen in-display fingerprint scanner that uses bottom half of the OLED screen recognise a user's fingerprint. While Vivo has not revealed much details of the smartphone but some previous reports suggest that the APEX will sport a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.

WhatsApp in its latest update for iOS users has added a new feature allowing users to request their Account information from the messaging app and check data that has been shared and kept by the company. WhatsApp had announced this feature to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regime (GDPR), and will come into effect from May 25. GDPR backs for more control in the hands of the user and demands for greater data privacy of consumers. WhatsApp version 2.18.60 will bring the ‘Request Account Info’ feature and allow users to download their data. Here're some of the features that have been recently added or are on cards for WhatsApp: 1. Group catch feature: WhatsApp will add a new Group catch up feature allowing users to get a quick update with messages they might have missed from a group. After this update users can quickly catch up messages that mention or reply to them by tapping on a new @ button that will appear at the bottom right corner of the chat. Apart from this, users will also get a participant search feature allowing them to find anyone in a group by searching for participants on the group info page.

iVOOMi's 'Full View' display smartphone in India for Rs 7,499

Chinese electronics company iVOOMi on Tuesday launched "i2" with 3D mirror finish for Rs 7,499 in India. The device comes with features such as "Full View" display and facial recognition and is exclusively available on Flipkart. The smartphone also supports dual active 4G VoLTE connectivity. "iVOOMi 'i2' is a design inspiration with features like face unlock and 3D mirror finish body. We intend to establish a stronger connection with the youth and continue fulfilling their requirements," Ashwin Bhandari, CEO, iVOOMi India, said in a statement. The 3D mirror finish back panel consists of 15 layers of optical coating, the company claimed.

Micromax Informatics, in collaboration with Bharti Airtel, on Tuesday launched its first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone Micromax "Bharat Go" for Rs 2,399. Micromax "Bharat GO", which has a market operating price of Rs 4,399, comes with a special cashback of Rs 2,000 as part of Airtel's 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' initiative. The launch is part of a partnership to bring low-cost smartphones powered by Android Oreo (Go edition) to the Indian market, the company said in a statement. Android Oreo (Go edition) is a configuration of the Android operating system specifically optimised for devices with 1GB RAM or less.

OnePlus 6 creates record of 100 crores in 10 mins

Smartphone maker OnePlus on Tuesday said it made a record sale of its newly-launched OnePlus 6 worth Rs 100 crore within first 10 minutes of its preview sale on Amazon India and its own online store--oneplus.in. Highlighting the enthusiasm of users in the country, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, told IANS, "We sold last year's flagship--OnePlus 5T worth Rs 100 crore in an entire day of sale whereas this time we did the same in just 10 minutes." The mirror black colour variant of OnePlus 6 saw a higher demand as compared to midnight black version of the device. "OnePlus 6 is our best-ever smartphone and we knew that it will do well. The mirror black variant of OnePlus 6 was more in demand during the first sale," Aggarwal added.

Honor 7A, 7C launch: Know features, specs and best offers available

Honor launched two budget smartphones on Tuesday for the Indian market. The smartphones are Honor 7A and Honor 7C which will be exclusively available to Amazon and Flipkart. Both the smartphones were launched in China in March and April. In India, both smartphones have been priced below Rs 10000. This could be Honor's strategy to take on Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 series of smartphones.
