New Delhi, April 16: Launching a scathing attack on the BJP for the Unnao rape case, senior Congress leader Kamal Nath has alleged that over 20 BJP leaders are rape accused. The main accused in the Unnao rape case is Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a BJP MLA.
“Maine kahin padha tha ki 20 aise neta hain Bharatiya Janata Party ke jo balatkar se jude hue hain. Ab inka naam Bharatiya Janata Party hona chahiye ya Balatkar Janata Party, ye janta ko sochna hai (I had read somewhere that there are 20 BJP leaders who are involved in rape cases. People must make a decision whether it should be called BJP or Balatkar Janata Party),” Nath was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Sengar is currenly in a 7-day CBI custody. Sengar, the MLA from Unnao's Bangamau, however continues to claim that he is innocent. Accused of raping a 17-year-old and conspiring to kill her father, who died of injuries he sustained while beaten brutally in police custody by Sengar's brother and some aides, Sengar was arrested by the CBI on Friday after a day-long interrogation
The victim tried to set herself ablaze outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence on last Sunday, claiming inaction in the rape case that took place in 2017. Later that day, her father was picked up by the police and allegedly beaten up in custody by the MLA's brother Atul Singh and his aides, following which he died in hospital.
