Agra horror: Passengers remove clothes, cut hair of mentally challenged girl

Agra, Jan 11: In yet another crime against women, a 17-year-old girl was forcibly stripped and had her hair cut by passengers of an AC 3 tier compartment of the Howrah-Jodhpur Express after she was accused of stealing a bag.

However, her father, who works as a daily wage labourer, alleged that due brain tumour the girl has become mentally unwell.

Meanwhile, the girl's parents claimed that the girl is still a minor as per her school certificate and despite this the police put her age at 19 years in their own FIR.

According to her school certificate, the girl is a minor at 17 years and 10 months. However, she was sent to jail on Tuesday after being produced before the local magistrate.

The girl's father claimed that she was being treated at a Saifai hospital in UP for the past one year for tumour. Her father said, she left home on Sunday after I could not give her Rs 100 as she wanted to visit a fair.

According to Lalit Tyagi, station house officer, “The girl was caught with a bag but passengers took law into their hands and cut off her hair. The passengers also behaved in an unruly manner with the TTE when he came to rescue her.”

According to the TTE SK Sharma, “ Passengers verbally abused me. It was sheer barbarism. Women stripped the girl while men assaulted her and cut off her hair.”
